
Sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and organized by the Badminton Association of Hong Kong, China (BAHKC), the six-day “LI-NING Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2025 part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500” will be held from September 9 to 14 at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
Since 2024, the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships has received Title Sponsorship for three consecutive years from Li-Ning (China) Sports Goods Co., Ltd., the leading sports brand company in China, which also serves as the official equipment supplier. As one of the Super 500 events of the HSBC BWF World Tour, this year’s tournament offers a record-high total prize money of US$500,000. The “Li-Ning Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2025 part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500” is proud of being an “M” Mark event that helps enhance the image of Hong Kong as Asia’s sports event capital. The “M” Mark awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolizing intense, spectacular and signature event in the territory sports calendar.

Mr Tong Wai Lun, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of the Badminton Association of Hong Kong, China, noted that year, players from 20 countries and regions have registered, with a total of 336 participants. According to the World Tour regulations, 272 athletes from 17 countries and regions have qualified, including 36 from China, 37 from Chinese Taipei, 34 from Malaysia, 26 from India, 25 from Indonesia, 19 from Japan, 17 from Denmark, 16 from Thailand, and 27 from Hong Kong, China.

Hong Kong, China will once again field its full elite squad, including 2025 Asian Championships Mixed Doubles Champions Tang Chun Man / Tse Ying Suet, Paris Olympic Men’s Singles representative Lee Cheuk Yiu, Women’s Doubles pair Yeung Nga Ting / Yeung Pui Lam, Women’s singles player Lo Sin Yan Happy, as well as Ng Ka Long Angus, Jason Gunawan, etc. With such a gathering of top talent, the tournament promises to spark a new wave of sporting excitement in Hong Kong.
This year, the Li-Ning Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships continues to receive support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club as the Official Community Partner. For the second year, the “Jockey Club Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships Community Programmes” will distribute tickets to underprivileged groups, youth, and the public. The event will also feature activity booths at the Piazza and host the “Badminton With You” International Star Masterclass, offering the public a chance to engage with international badminton stars and experience world-class competition first-hand during this annual sporting extravaganza.
Tickets have been available for purchase since August 12, 2025, via the URBTIX website . The response has been overwhelming, with tickets for the finals on September 14 selling out within the first two hours of release. Additionally, free admission tickets for the qualifying rounds and the first round of the Men’s and Women’s Doubles, held on the opening day of the event (September 9), have been fully distributed.
