The Badminton Association of Hong Kong, China (BAHKC) is pleased to announce on Thursday Thursday, June 13, 2024, that the Li-Ning (China) Sports Goods Co., Ltd., the leading sports brand company in China, will become the Title Sponsor of the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships from 2024 to 2026, as well as the “Official Equipment Supplier.” The signing ceremony for the three-year sponsorship took place at the Board Room of the Olympic House, officially naming the tournament as the “LI-NING Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500.”
The signing ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Dr. Tong Yun Kai, SBS, MBE, DBA, President of BAHKC; Mr. Li Ning, Founder and Chairman of LI-NING Company; Mr. Tong Tong Wai Lun, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of BAHKC; representatives from Li-Ning (China) Sports Goods Co., Ltd., and members of the Hong Kong, China Badminton Youth Team, among others.

LI-NING Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500
The LI-NING Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships for 2024-2026 will be held on September 10-15, 2024, September 9-14, 2025, and November 17-22, 2026, respectively. This tournament is part of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour and attracts over 200 top badminton players from more than 20 countries and regions each year, including Olympic and Asian Games medalists, competing for the highest honor in the Hong Kong Open.
About Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships
Since 1982, the Badminton Association of Hong Kong, China has organized 33 editions of the “Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships.” From 2004 to 2006, the tournament was upgraded to a 6-star world-class tournament with a total prize up to US$250,000. Starting from 2007, it was recognized by the BWF under its Superseries, known as the “Hong Kong Open Super Series.” In 2018, the BWF renamed the “Super Series” to the “World Tour,” and the Hong Kong Open was granted as Super 500 event. The total prize for the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships has consistently increased, rising from US$350,000 in 2012 to US$400,000 in 2016, and reaching $420,000 in 2023, setting new records and making the tournament even more attractive.
The Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships has been recognized as an “M” Brand event since 2005, that helps enhance the image of Hong Kong as Asia’s sports event capital. The “M” Mark awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolising intense, spectacular and signature event in the territory sports calendar.”
